There are officially 0 and a butt days until graduation and graduation leave for the class of 2011. Finally! It seems like this year has taken forever but summer is finally here. I'm off to CTLT in Ft. Benning, GA and then LDAC in Ft. Lewis, WA before I head on down to Brazil for the semester. Very excited, to say the least!
I'm off to bed so that I can parade at my very best tomorrow for the graduating Firsties. The portuguese word of the day is "oculos de sol" which means sunglasses. On to the beach!

Countdown! 20 Days 'til Graduation!
Só dias vinte mais! ("Only twenty more days" in Portuguese)
As the year winds down, I find myself preparing for summer training and leave and doing less and less classroom oriented work. With TEEs or Term End Exams looming, I need to study hard and finish this semester strong!
I have created a "Brazilian Radio" station on my Pandora account and been watching Globo (a Portuguese television network) on Vbrick a little more, recently. I can't really understand much, but I catch the odd word here and there. Diving into an entirely portuguese speaking culture should be interesting.
5 days 'til Friday, 11 days until TEE Leave and the 3rd Annual Rosie Classic, 20 days until Graduation, 22 days until CTLT, 51 days until LDAC, 79 days until Brazil, and 223 days until Army beats the hell out of Navy in football!
Portuguese word of the day is, "cachorrinho" which means "puppy". Can't wait to see my dog Max in 11 days!

Packing
So I am not physically packing my things for the world away just yet; however, I'm in the process of getting everything together in order to be ready to go come summer time. This process includes hours of online training (Anti-Terrorism, SERE, Human Rights, and the like) as well as ensuring my "cadet life" is locked down so that I may return on December to find it just as I left it.
On a similar note, I still don't know what cadet company I will be in upon my return to West Point or if I will be scrambling out of A-2 at all. My classmates and I wait with bated breath to find out where we will end up for the next 2 years of our cadet lives.
I'm off to breakfast and then a long day of homework. Portuguese word of the day is, "borboleta" which means "butterfly", for the exceptional weather we've had the last few days.

First Post?
So to those of you out there, I'm a little new at this (hence the title) I had a meeting today with my trip advisors, MAJ Fagergren and Dr. Jones-Kellog of West Point's Dept. of Foreign Languages ("DFL" from now on) and recieved some initial guidance as well as a monster checklist of things to complete before I leave. It's hard to believe I'll be leaving in a little more than 4 months to begin my Brazilian adventures!
That looks like quite enough for a first post. MTF ("more to follow" for you non-military types out there) on what my summer will be shaped like after I get back from some R&R ("rest and relaxation") over spring break!
